~Chrysalis Radio~

The roots of Chrysalis stretch back to a tiny flat in West London in 1967, when former university social secretaries, Chris Wright, aged 22, and Terry Ellis, aged 23, linked their flair for managing and booking bands to form the Ellis Wright Agency. The duo quickly established themselves as significant entertainment providers for British colleges and swiftly transferred to an office in London's West End. Among the duo's early management clients were blues rockers.

After a couple of experiences trying to release Ten Years After, Wright and Ellis began thinking in terms of their own label. In 1968, they signed a licensing deal with Island Records under the curcumstances that Wright and Ellis' acts log an agreed number of hits, then the pair would be awarded a label in their own right. The appropriate tally was logged within a year, and a new independent record company - Chrysalis, an amalgam of Wright's first name and Ellis's last - was born.

In July 2007, Chrysalis Radio was sold to Global Radio for £170m, leaving Chrysalis as a focused music business. Chrysalis now operates a successful international music publishing operation, the Echo Label, an 'incubator' record label for artists signed to our music publishing division and Lasgo Chrysalis, an international wholesale distribution business.

Chrysalis Radio is the 3rd largest operator in the commercial radio market in the UK, with 55.2m listening hours. They operate three well established and highly regarded radio brands: Heart, LBC, Galaxy as well as a newer, digital-only brand, The Arrow.

Kidulthood is a British movie based in West London, this film tells the audience a story of three friends who have different problems that they face throughout. This film is mainly focused on school kids who are carrying different influences that teenages face in everyday life, such as violence and drugs.

We see a range of props being used throughout the trailer, much violent weapons are used such as gun or knives. These props are used to attack people this connotes to the term enigma as the audience wants to know what will happen to the characters when they are attacking eachother and how it effects their everyday life.

The costumes that are being worn by the teenage kids from West London are stereotypical as they are wearing tracksuits and hooded tops etc. This represents the way many teenagers dress today in society. With many of the characters wearing hoods, this represents the stereotype of being a criminal/ thug, this may result in people thinking that they are the usual suspects in carrying weapons.

Low key which makes it very realistic and there are no special effects, which would make it look like a very unreliable source. The lighting changes as during scenes of violence/ fighting, the natural lighting is dark to represent pathetic fallacy. In the beginning of the trailer the lighting is bright as it shows happiness in the party! The setting is in a ‘slum’ where a lot of violence usually takes place. It is on Ladbroke Grove where crime is really common and we see the most of violence taking place like it is a common thing.

The Fast & Furious Analysis

The poster has used mise-en-scene by using ‘smudged’ colours, this connotes that the car is travelling at a fast pace, also we can see that this is no ordinary car, it has been modified so it looks more attractive to the street racing world. Just by looking at the car it creates an entertaining feel for the audience as you can that these people are crossing the line/ they maybe fugitive or are running from the law, this stereotypical view can draw in an audience as you can see the four main characters. The two men have a soldier look to them, they do not seem to show fear from the law as there is also a police car behind the modified car which also connotes that this is a fugitive/action film. Also there are two women behind the two main characters, this infers that they are the two people who support the two men.
As this is the first of the ‘Fast & Furious’ collection people do not know what to expect from the film, but by the editor inserting the names of the famous actors into the poster such as ‘Vin Diesel’ who normally does action films, they will want to watch this as they may interpret that this is also an action movie.
All text written is angled diagonally, which gives an impression of action and crime, which might reflect in the film. This is what the audience may be expecting.
In the image there is a medium shot of the car with the police car at the back, this is used because then the audience can get to know the film before they have actually watched it. As most of the street racing action takes place at night, the person who made the poster reflects this upon putting the four main characters in the black background. This implies that the racing is also taking place at night as the streets in the poster are a bit dark. Furthermore a close-up picture is taken of the main characters this shows that they are actually the main people in the film. There is a contrast in light and dark in the poster. This is because low key lighting is used and adds mystery to the poster. The contrast is of light is the bright white lighted writing and contrasts with the dark sky/background. The main writing is lighted up in bright white like it is the same as the headlamps of a car this shows that it is related to a film in the car industry.
